following the FBI’s February 4, 2021 raid on her home in rural Western Pennsylvania, where authorities executed a Judicially Authorized search warrant, Powell was taken into Federal Custody. Remarkably before she was taken into Federal Custody , she spoke with a local Pittsburg PA News Station.

As widely reported in the New Yorker article by Ronin Farrow - which detailed how another wise mother of eight, some how morphed into a Insurrectionist. In today’s Department of Justice Charging Documents, the Government provides a decent tick-tock of what transpired.

Specifically on pages 6 thru 8 of the Affidavit, Paragraphs 18 thru 22, as alleged Powell was observed using a large pipe as a battering ram and “violently ramming a window of the Capitol” and thereafter crawling through the broken window

Thereafter investigators then compared Rachel Powell’s public Facebook account (which has now been taken down, (Facebook User ID IamRachelPowell) it was the “earmuffs” that helped investigators confirm her identity. Also if you are going to use the DOJ-OPA link to the complaint and affidavit, please ensure you redact her cellphone number.

Earlier today Rachel Powell made her initial appearance via VTC (video teleconference) however she is still in custody and will be so as per the Order, document no 8 ECF/PACER link or you can pull down the Order via my Public Drive, found here

Pending the hearing, the defendant is to be detained in the custody of the United States Marshal or any other authorized officer. The custodian must bring the defendant to the hearing(s) at the time, date, and place set forth below. I should also note that in the affidavit- there is zero mention of how and who Powell travelled with. I do think that’s a detail that is important because if you look at the DOJ-OPA URL you’ll note a slight anomaly. Typically it only has a file number but perhaps I’m reading too much into the URL. Granted those tiny details tend to actually matter

Also I’d like to draw your attention to page 12 - paragraphs 27 and 28 (again I choose to redact Ms Powell’s cell phone number and then uploaded the redacted affidavit to a public drive, found here) see the last line in paragraph 28?

law enforcement identified telephone number [redacted] was connecting to cell towers in Washington DC on January 6, 2021.

So for those insurrectionist who somehow thought that Federal Law Enforcement wouldn’t access that kind of data. I regret to inform you that your wrong, that of course they have the ability to review the cell tower logs. Which is entirely different than call logs, cell tower data is in fact easy to obtain, albeit via administrative subpoenas or merely a request by Law Enforcement

The next scheduled Court appearance for Ms Powell is on February 9, 2021, at 2:30PM for a Detention Hearing. I suspect the Government will file a Motion for Detention in the coming days, as such I’ll update accordingly…
