Seth Pendley plot to blow up Amazon Datacenter in Ashburn, VA -DOMESTIC TERRORISM
Those seeking to impugn the FBI, or more broadly the DOJ. You need to OMERTÀ These agents are always standing watch protecting all Americans at home and a broad. So Zip it QANON-for-the-Left.
When you know you know. While some of us have been quietly tracking, archiving and then subsequently sending information into Federal Authorities. Not that this matters but MyMilitia(.)com has been a goldmine of information.
Should you be inclined in January 2020 after the epic take down of “The Base” —Some of us said “watch this space because a vacuum would be filled by other groups like the Oath Keepers, Proud Boys and countless Militia Groups”1 Back in late February 2021 - I earned an excommunication from MyMilitia (you can read more here) in early 2020 —I created an account and started quietly monitoring and archiving and when necessary alerted the proper Federal Authorities.
Which brings us to the recently unsealed Complaint and Affidavit as to;
Defendant Seth Aaron Pedley aka Dionysus
On January 8, 2021 a concerned citizen contacted the FBI, stating a user “Dionysus” had posted “alarming” comments on the MyMiltia website about “blowing up Amazon’s Ashburn, VA data center”
What transpired next was a pretty complex but speedy investigation. Using Confidential Human Source(s) - (CHS) 2 - and setting up a 3rd party for explosives. Seth Aaron Pendley with the user name “Dionysus” stated on MyMilitia his plans to “conduct a little experiment,” —He said it would “draw a lot of heat” and could be “dangerous.” When another user asked what outcome Dionysus desired, he responded, “death.” - Targeting the SmithSwitch Road Datacenter would impact up to 70% of internet traffic. Hence it’s one of the major internet hubs (also known as MAEs)…
A confidential source provided the FBI with the user’s email address, which was registered to Mr. Pendley.A subsequent search of the defendant’s Facebook account showed that he had boasted about being at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.
The Affidavit further details that the investigation uncovered various public Facebook post by Defendant Pendley3 For Example; I am going with this January 12, 2021 Facebook Post or this January 10, 2021 Facebook Post in which the Defendant stated he was inside the Capitol on January 6th.
Because after all nothing says I’m a true American Patriot like posting your activity inside the Capitol and suggesting that your brought a sawed-off shotgun with you to Washington DC. Dolt.
—so while some attempt to (specuoisly) attack the FBI or question why Attorney General Garland isnt holding daily or hourly press conferences. Well if you want to know what the DOJ is doing about the Jan6th insurrection. Might I suggest;
https://www.justice.gov/usao-dc/capitol-breach-cases
or
https://ecf.dcd.uscourts.gov/cgi-bin/ShowIndex.pl because you can actually setup alerts but I suppose bemoaning about the lack of daily or hourly press conference is the recourse for individuals who are thirsty for social media attention. These are the same charlatans that tweet the “intelligence community” should leak what ever they have. Yes so you’re not exactly the harbinger of ethics or facts but we all know you are thirsty that you’re down right dehydrated.
I disgress -where was I?
Oh yes Defendant Pendley..
Yet humble bragging about being inside the Capitol - is additional confirmation that when “Trump sends his people, he’s not sending his best” because on January 10, 2022 Defendant Pendley posted this on his Facebook timeline. Base on the information in the Affidavit a couple of things are clear —Law Enforcement conducted surveillance on Pendley and observed him taking a black rifle case in/out of his home/car.
Thereafter Defendant Pendley began using Signal - he then began messaging CHS-2 who parlayed an introduction to a third party - supplier of explosive components. The Defendant quickly shared shared his plan to use C-4 plastic explosives to attack Amazon’s Web Service main DMV (DC MD VA) data center - an attempt to “kill of about 70% of the internet.” Providing egress/degress of the AWS Ashburn VA data center - incidentally the defendant didn’t do enough research because he actually targeted the wrong AWS location- of which there are several on SmithSwitch Road. Unbeknownst to the Defendant (as previously mentioned) the explosive supplier was an undercover FBI employee
Again based on the facts elucidated in the Affidavit, it appears Law Enforcement surveilled Pendley for several weeks. Part of Defendant Pendley’s AWS-Bomb attack was he would paint his car black. Accordingly in the early morning of March 31, 2021 the Affiant noted that Pendley’s silver Pontiac was now painted black. This actually suggest the seriousness of Defendant Pendley’s plot to blow up AWS data center.
Also on March 31, CHS-2 introduced Defendant Pendley to an individual who he “claimed was his explosives supplier”…The individual was an undercover FBI employee. Additionally the meeting was recorded and he told the undercover he planned to attack Amazon’s web servers.
The Defendant believed AWS provided services to the FBI, CIA, and other federal agencies…hoping to bring down “the oligarchy” currently in power in the United States. In some respects Defendant Pendley is correct -that Ashburn VA is known as Data-Center Mecca with up to 87% of all internet traffic coming/going from Ashburn VA.4 5 6 7
On April 8, 2021 the UnderCover FBI employee provided Defendant Pendley with C-4 plastic devices and a detonation cord with instructions to arm the explosives. Once the Defendant took possession of what he thought was explosives- the FBI quickly placed him under arrest. Subsequently thereafter Federal Law Enforcement executed a a search warrant on the Defendant’s Witcha Falls, TX home. There agents recovered additional evidence of the Defendant’s plan to blow up the AWS data center. 8 - look what I highlighted in the Government’s Motion for Detention (ECF or via my public drive) - yes “a Federal Crime of terrorism”
Just so we are clear here Defendant Pendley was at the Capitol on January 6, 2021 and then he decided that he would create a plan to blow up one of AWS’s data center locations (FTR in Ashburn they have five not 24) and the buildings are tightly controlled by armed guards. Sure anyone can critize the FBI but you will not hear that kind of criticism from me. I have a lot of respect for what the FBI and more broadly the DOJ do. And yes I have voiced my recent frustration with some prosecutors, specifically “bond” or failing to request detention.
Lastly the maps the Defendant pulled are not the correct nor updated maps because AWS filed numerous special exemptions for several data centers in NoVA. And cyber security means both “inside” the data center and exterior perimeter. One of my employer’s client is a tier 1 data center and you can not just drive up. If you think a Federal Building has tight security then I’m going to burst your bubble… you don’t know “tight” security until you go to an actual data center and the client forgot to add your name to “the list”
-the end
