In the recent weeks - the actual threat of violence has escalated to engaging in assaultive attack by parents on actual teachers - and school administrators.
We've had a very vocal group here try to bully our board, fortunately it didn't work. They are trying to recall the entire board. The board got smart and switched to virtual meetings, not going to let them strong arm them. They thought they could install a new Superintendent if they took control of the board too. He announced last year he was retiring. Board also quashed this by hiring his replacement a couple of weeks ago already. We are fortunate to be in a very blue county so they will be loud but anything they try to do will be very difficult and met with fierce resistance by the community.
I can’t help but think “my GOD your children are watching your atrocious and unlawful behavior” because Teachers are unsung heroes and they should not be assaulted by misinformed parents.
Right, some of these kids will go along with their parents, but I suspect most of them really want to fit in with their peers, the majority of which have parents and they themselves aren't koo koo for cocoa puffs.
This IS domestic terrorism and should be treated as such with harsh penalties, not slaps on the wrist. Worse, kids see this behavior and emulate it. So far this year, we find ourselves practically preaching kindness while teaching academics due to behavioral issues.
