I've always suspected that the "lies" aka disinformation pushed by Trump and GQP was a carefully designed tactic to skew Google searches - and it works! Thank you Smiley Filey for all your dedication and fun, and Happy 2022. Keep on keeping on 💕

I tend to agree with you about gaming the algorithm. The problem is none of the major social media companies want to be transparent on what their AI & algorithms serve up to their users. While I’ve largely argued that Trump radicalized hundreds of thousands (possibly millions) of Americans, the social media companies have some accountability/liability -note Meta’s new framing of the CDA-230 -essentially stating (in a multimillion dollar ad campaign) that because there are no definitive regulations on content -then Meta is “flying in the dark as best as we can but Congress needs to fix it”

The reality is CDA-230’s original intent was to mitigate liability for child pornography yet it’s morphed into a Frankenstein shield that offers 100% immunity for the social media companies. Sorry I went on a wordy tangent —CDA-230 has been a pet project since 2014…

When I saw Adam Klasfield’s account of play by play when jury delivered a verdict, it seemed inevitable that certain accounts would prognosticate w/their crystal balls…w/in minutes it was mob, mob, mob or they are all going to prison. Prince Andrew & Bill Clinton started trending & photos of Epstein w/Trump & Maxwell w/Trump appeared. One account brought up the tired thread of all knowing Semion M involvement & people would now fall out of windows etc. that thread is almost 5 years old & has nothing to do w/this particular trial. Bringing up Robert Maxwell & their wikipedia a search of 5 minutes, showed up too. All of the sudden Acosta & other Trump ilk would be in handcuffs. It’s insane. This trial is about the victims & pulling extraneous threads of nonsense together without the professional background to back it up, is a disservice.

Certainly there will be surprises in the upcoming unraveling, but nothing to the fantastical or imaginary machinations of these clowns. People publishing names from the infamous black book with tweets suggesting they’re all going to prison without any evidence is speculation & feeds the beast.

Thank you for keeping this based on facts. I have my own wish that perpetrators be brought to justice, but am willing to see how this pans out. Ugh.

I genuinely do not understand how he made such a head scratching conclusory leap. One of the main reasons I stopped tweeting or blogging about the case is I had faith in the 12 jurors. They deliberated for over 40 hours. I do absolutely think she’s going to appeal the conviction and in my bones (and my 18+ years in this industry) I know that December 27th letter will come into play. I guess my main goal was to talk my readers through the docket, facts that need to be more fully scrutinized and yes of course explaining what happens next.

Nothing and I mean nothing in the countless hours of research even suggest that she knows anything about PROMIS. But the dangerous innuendo and straight up conspiracy theories -acted as a catalyst for me to go there. And by there I mean sticking to actual facts supported by numerous court filings. On Prince Andrew —I 100% agree

And lastly I do think that the victims’ courage and strength to fight for Justice shouldn’t be diminished by conspiracy theories.

Oh my goodness.. did you see the deferred prosecution & cooperation agreement/plea deal that the two BOP prison guards entered into with SDNY just his past May? Holy shit, Filey. I just now read it. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on that and if you’ve already shared them somewhere that I’ve missed please point me to it.

Yeah, I agree. If anything else spirals off of this it will be due to diligent and hard work - such as the victims bringing other civil cases or sharing their stories. Andrew may be on the hot seat right now, but we're a far cry from suddenly everyone appearing in handcuffs and that sort of magical thinking gets people nowhere.

I agree. Andrew presents a diplomatic nightmare w/closest ally but is definitely part of victim’s testimony. Another one is Dershowitz & (Filey, I remember you covering his legal issues in a thread from twitter.)

For sure, though Andrew's troubles in Virginia's civil case could spiral for him, but like, as you say it's a diplomatic nightmare and I think that only changes if the Palace is willing to give him up (which won't happen with Elizabeth II on the throne). Dersh though, he could be in for a rough time especially with the unsealing of that non-prosecution agreement from the 2000s in the Giuffre v. Andrew civil case. Though 'rough time' certainly doesn't mean criminal charges. But yeah, I just roll my eyes at people at this point that think there's an easy magical dam burst coming that'll have indictments rolling out constantly off the back of Maxwell.

Ugh. I read some of that crap and the comments and, once again, have to ask myself-"Why do you do that?" lol I actually read him for a while until I caught on to the crazy. Once again, thanks for this. How are you doing/feeling? Things mended? I appreciate your videos. I'm landlocked in NM and miss my CA beaches... I'll take your opposite coast, anytime. ❤

And candidly I do the daily saltwater videos for my own self care too. But I’m glad you enjoy them. It’s amazing to see how the ocean and sound change from day to day.

Being suspended from Twitter was in fact a blessing in disguise. That platform is a cesspool of weaponized information and disinformation. I guess my point is -if I’m going to be critical of MAGA-QANON then I need to be equally critical of the Blue-QANON. Facts certainly matter and should always hold more weight than rumor/gossip or unfounded conspiracy theories.

"...people who use their platform to intentionally spread disinformation are incredibly dangerous." To think I listened to that person. SMH Thanks again, Filey. It looks as though justice will be served this time around.

You know since I showed you the episode (we'll just refer to it as 'the show') on 11/17/20, I have been literally repulsed by the majority of them, and that racist tirade that he went on, and that his cochair sat and nodded his bobble head along with and laughed at was one of the most disgusting and dangerous things I have ever watched in the middle of a period of time when AAPI hate crimes were/are running rampant. I was/am also sickened that there have been more people than I would like to believe, and it has changed my view of them, who have asked me, "Why can't I (a mixed race AAPI person) just put the racism aside in my pocket and appreciate the two of them for some of the other things they bring to the table." ............... want to guess both my reaction and the people who would ask me to do that?

I’m still disgusted by the “joint chiefs can issue an order to ‘bomb’ the shit out of a city in China…you kill thousands of our people, our security doctrine allows for proportional use of force” <—that’s a direct quote. I don’t even know where to begin with that deranged disinformation:

-the Joint Chief Chair is NOT the one who gives that kind of catastrophic and unlawful use of deadly force. It’s the POTUS as Commander in Chief and that’s after considerable consultation with WNSC, IC, State, DOJ and more importantly Congress (AUMF come on that hasn’t been amended since the Bush Admin

In the summer of 2021 I (like many other Americans) was optimistic but then it hit a massive snag in the Senate

- Geneva Convention, UN Security Council & other applicable treaties, accords and/or armistice. International Law, War Crimes etc

-the overt racism isn’t at all surprising., He also likes to dip into anti-semitism, “brown menace” and yet they are both largely the poster children for white privilege.

“other things they bring to the table…” OMG yes I’m all ears -please tell me how that went down. Because that episode was not only insane, it was down right offensive and dangerous. Please tell me you stood your ground on the principle debate. Because you can’t be that overtly racist about Asian people and think “it’s okay” because is not

Oh of course. I told each person, who of course were themselves white males, that that would be a forever 'no' for me, and that asking me to 'put aside their overt racism' because 'they' find them amusing in other contexts is deeply disturbing, and profoundly offensive, and shows how much they think of their own thoughts and feelings, and how little they think of mine. I have never felt the same of these people since then. That you could ask this, hold these two thoughts, it is baffling. It wreaks of privilege and self centered thinking.

You were far more diplomatic than I would have been. And I completely understand your position. It’s disappointing when you find out that people you once held in esteem are complete charlatans and grifters. All kidding aside I’m impressed by your restraint. Not sure I could have been so elegant in my response to said inquiry. I’d probably say something on the lines of: hard pass being a racist, anti-Semitic, disinformation agent of conspiracy theirs is forever disqualifying so you can kick rocks 😂🤣😂

I definitely was feeling that, but I will say, ONE of the people, was someone I had grown somewhat close with, and I was INCREDIBLY hurt and disappointed in them, in a way that could never be put back 'whole.' Between 'this,' and something else you specially mention in your post, that we will have to talk about when we have our bon bon chat, things drastically changed between us. My damn issues with truth and morals.
