House Select Committee on Jan6th -first public hearing June 9, 2022 -8PM EST -updated with Committee documents, videos etc
Proud Boys will likely take center stage because Nick Quest was embedded with the Proud Boys for months leading up to the deadly insurrection
Updated (June 9, 2022 at 9:49PM) to now include US Capitol Police Officer Edwards written testimony…see bottom of this article…
Let’s take a brief walk down memory lane.
I preface this article with an important caveat, the House Select Committee on the Jan6th (HSCJ6th)) attack on our US Capitol has a lot on the line. The Pro-Trump-MAGA domestic terrorist, decided on Jan 6, 2021 to willingly participate (dozens charged with “conspiracy”) in the deadly insurrection. This date will be forever enshrined in our Country’s history books. Moreover it represents an indelible stain of Donald Trump’s (failed) presidency.
Like many of you I am not ready to move on, until such time the DOJ gives Americans the “perp walk” of Donald J Trump, Donald Trump Jr, Ivanka Trump, Kash Patel (read more here and more recently here), Roger Stone, Ginni Thomas, Jim Jordon, Paul Gosar (Oath Keeper bragged about Gosar & his mailability, you can read more here or here), Scott Perry (or see July 2021 article, or here or here).
The current HSCJ6’s criminal referrals to DOJ -criminal contempt;
As a brief refresher; from November 2021 to present), the House of Representatives (specifically the HSCJ6) transmitted several criminal referrals to Main DOJ earlier this year. Below I’ve taken the liberty of embedding numerous previously published articles, concerning each of these obsequious sycophants :
-Steve Bannon Nov 2021 Indicted and NOPE I’m not writing about his recent “sad and pathetic” subpoena of Madam Speaker. That subpoena enforcement has a 99.999% of wholesale failure. And I can’t see the case lasting any more than four day, with a lightening speed verdict. Meaning I’m pretty sure a DOJ inter could secure a guilty conviction.
-Jeffrey Clark Dec 2021 —one item that drives me slightly up the wall is a lot of folks overlooked the October 2021 Senate Judiciary referral to the DC Bar ←that article was a detailed summary of the Senate Committee’s actions and their findings —it also includes dozens of links to the underlying (depo transcripts, letters, countless exhibits and the Published Senate Report. Also see Dec 2021 article, found here, Jan 2022 article, found here and lastly see March 2022 found here
-Mark Meadows and Dawn Scavino December 2021 presently there’s a lot of uninformed prognostications concerning the DOJ declination in prosecuting Meadows and Scavino. The fatal infirmity of said uninformed prognostications is “assuming” the DOJ didn’t present evidence to the DC Federal Grand Jury. Nor has the DOJ officially and publicly stated a declination had been decided. After all you know what they say about: assuming…
On one hand the harsh criticism might (operative word) be warranted, but the facts are none of us know what stage/process of the DOJ’s criminal investigation concerning both Meadows and Scavino. Conversely by nature, as the chief of staff for POTUS, the claim of executive privilege, weighs very much in favor for Meadows/Trump (and oddly that’s possibly applicable to Dan Scavino)… that calculus is likely being murder-boarded by several veteran prosecutors at USAO-DC —I’m not at all bothered by the lack of indictment(s)
-John Eastman (see search link of articles published starting in Sept 2021 to almost present) —it’s also important to remind you what the DC Federal District Judge stated in his incredibly thorough Memorandum and Order —
See Scribd Link to the March 2022 Order, you can also read a pretty detailed article, which was previously published in March 2022. The District Court’s Order, reads in part:
…Together, these actions more likely than not constitute attempts to obstruct an official proceeding… Trump likely knew the justification was baseless, and therefore that the entire plan was unlawful…President Trump knowingly tried to subvert this fundamental principle…Based on the evidence, the Court finds it more likely than not that President Trump corruptly attempted to obstruct the Joint Session of Congress on January 6, 2021…
-Peter Navarro - I don’t even know where to begin with him. Setting aside that he was probably one of the worst trade advisors and He acts/sounds like a trash panda on crystal meth. A vast majority of the time I have a hard time understanding what he’s saying because his unhinged rage is on a whole new level of “why are you admitting your crimes on ‘the beat’ and screaming during your entire interview” —setting aside the fact that once the privilege veil has been pierced you can not claw it back. This is especially true if you write a tell-all-book and I hope Navarro’s saved some of his $775K advance —because:
Only a complete moron or arrogant SOB goes Pro Se
And do be clear yes it is an indisputable fact that Navarro’s utterly insane civil lawsuit was in fact written (edited) by Navarro. See paragraph # 1, second sentence —also the first and third person narrative just made me laugh because I real lawsuits everyday and sometimes multiple lawsuits a day. I can definitely state that a first year law student could write/argue better than Navarro.
In fact I tried to write an informative article attempting to explain just how bonkers his civil lawsuit was/is. By the time I hit page 7 -the tone of his filing escalated to what I think a tequila soak rat-pizza on crystal meth would type on an old fashion typewriter. In less alliterative terms, his complaint shouldn’t be taken seriously, at all. Notwithstanding I would like to draw your attention to page 3, last paragraph-item (6) -he disclosed the actual grand jury subpoena number —see the blue box?
Not to be outdone in my June 3, 2022 article, I casually mentioned that Navarro likely selectively leaked his complaint to Politico but because I generally read (nearly) every page of any document(s) I discuss in my articles I found these fact nuggets pretty interesting —Navarro’s was “commanded” to appear before the Federal Grand Jury (in DC) on June 2, 2022 —the Grand Jury # and date were proffered by Navarro…
Oh you don’t believe me that I “tried” to write an article dissecting his absurd complaint? Well I have receipts and files 👇🏻—I mean really I did try, (several times) over the weekend to write something but I realized that I had other projects that were a far better use of my time. Trying to decipher the rantings of an unhinged lunatic, who used the exact same arguments that at least 4 other district court judges and the USCCOAs wholly rejected wasn’t amusing, I found it sad —definition of insanity -something—something
Lastly did you forget that back in March 2022 the Washington Post confirmed a Grand Jury focused on Trump & (very) senior aides? If so, it’s okay because my mind vault is pretty expansive and my recall abilities are my gift to you, the reader…
Infrastructure Week has finally arrived…
For those who followed me on Twitter —then you already know that inside joke. FTR any time bad news occurred during the Trump Administration, my retort was “oh I see infrastructure week has finally arrived” —because I’m petty & spicy. But to set your expectations about the HSCJ6, reminder they do not have any authority to bring criminal charges (similar to the Fulton County “special grand jury” —which is a pet peeve of mine when some on social media wrongly conflate and mislead their followers with click-bait tweets/post.
Again the hearing isn’t like Trump’s two impeachments. Nor will the HSCJ6 be like other Congressional hearings —where members of both parties use hearings to grand stand or prove their loyalty to Trump. I suppose that’s a silver lining. The reality is this hearing will unquestionably be a fact driven one-sided narrative. I have faith in this committee. I trust them and you should too. The HSCJ6 has deposed over 1,000 witnesses, obtained hundreds of thousands of pages of documents, subpoenas responses, data forensics, telephony records etc.
I’m crossing my fingers hoping the HSCJ6 will adhere to the K.I.S.S. doctrine and I certainly hope the facts elucidated will point to multiple nexuses. One of which will undoubtedly be Donald Trump, he didn’t incite the deadly insurrection…nope Trump conspired, coordinated, directed and funded the deadly insurrection. That his cult-followers engaged in a seditious conspiracy to overthrow our government and obstruct the time honored “peaceful transfer of power” and that Trump had several members of Congress who conspired with him…
What to expect and who will testify…
Typically Congressional Committees upload the witness(es) testimony about 24 hours in advance of the hearing, either to the House Document Repository or the Committee’s website. At the time of publication, the written testimony has yet to be uploaded to either websites:
I would encourage you to bookmark all three embedded websites. The reality is my day will be extraordinarily busy and my bandwidth to be online (in a recreational capacity) will be next to null. Given tomorrow is the culmination of nearly 4 months of an average 13+ hour work day. It’s literally the very last project my former boss tasked me with, until his untimely death. Because he was (God I hate using past tense) that kind of boss that would (jokingly) say to me: “kid you F this up -I’m going to haunted you in your sleep and I’ll withhold your bonuses” he liked to use reverse psychology on me mixed with good old fashioned Catholic guilt. If everything goes right I’m hoping he will be grinning ear to ear as he’s looking down on his entire team.
The committee will present previously unseen material documenting January 6th, receive witness testimony, and provide the American people an initial summary of its findings about the coordinated, multi-step effort to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election and prevent the transfer of power. The committee will also preview additional hearings.
Witness U.S. Capitol Police Officer Caroline Edwards
On June 7, 2022 I published an article where I provided my a modest amount of facts about this witness. Fact: She suffered a traumatic brain injury when Defendant Ryan Samsel pushed her, causing her to hit her head on concrete stairs. You read more here and here or generally here (remember when I excoriated the former acting US Attorney …or you watch the YouTube video, that I uploaded over a year ago

Written Statement of Officer Caroline Edwards U.S. Capitol Police PDF via Congressional Doc Repository
… was the first law enforcement officer injured by rioters storming the Capitol grounds on January 6, 2021. Even after suffering a traumatic brain injury, Officer Edwards patrolled the Capitol’s West Plaza and prevented many rioters from entering the Capitol building. A native of Atlanta, Georgia, and cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia, Officer Edwards left a career in public relations to answer the call to serve in law enforcement in 2017. Since January 6th, her injuries have prevented her from returning to her previous assignment as a member of the USCP First Responder Unit. She looks forward to returning to that duty this year after being physically cleared.
Witness Nick Quested
Nick Quested is an acclaimed filmmaker and documentarian who, with his crew, documented the movements around the Capitol that morning, the first moments of violence against U.S. Capitol Police, and the chaos that ensued. Mr. Quested produced Restrepo which followed a platoon in Afghanistan for a year and was nominated for an Academy award. He also directed Hell on Earth for National Geographic.
Speaking of the (not so) Proud Boys -superseding Monday should totally be a thing, kind of like taco Tuesday.
There is speculation that the HSCJ6 June 9, 2022 hearing will also include both “fact and material” witnesses. For example: see July 2021 Article “waiving executive privilege”, for former DOJ officials. You can read more here, here or generally search via my Substack Archive… but thus far these are the only two witness names disclosed…
And naturally your daily dose of saltwater therapy —thus proving cloudy sunrises are kind of amazing —Whispers —my insomnia has returned and I consider that to be a good thing. Generally speaking this means I’m stressed the bleep out over my bonbons. And sleep is an elusive luxury…
I promise you that I am making tiny baby steps dealing with the suicide. Although yesterday my former boss’ monthly Claeys candy arrived. As soon as I opened the package it felt like a punch in the stomach. I still don’t have the heart to cancel his month subscription. So for now I’m hoarding it (snort) —and lastly I may or many not publish a follow up article regarding today’s highly anticipated first public hearing. Mainly because I kind of want to wait and see how the Republican members of Congress contort themselves defending the absolute indefensible. Plus I’m not on twitter and I’m not that starved for attention to start tweeting during the hearing. I’d rather give my undivided attention to the meat & potatoes of this hearing versus chasing likes and RTs (because my life isn’t centered around social media) —notwithstanding I do think my readers will benefit from this article, considering it me laying the foundation for you — or at the minimum refreshing your memory.
Have a great day. And Be Well -Filey
Definitely watching the hearing tonight. The violence is hard to rewatch
Pretty great "perp walk" list, Mic; like a box of chocolates, it's difficult to choose just one, so Imma enjoy 'em all...
Gosar is SUCH a tool, surely he must realize how fuct he is...(I, too, cannot believe that he still has a job in Congress, and he's certainly not the only one who should've been removed, js)
Still, though the list of treasonous PsOS (ie. plural) included here is long, I'd like (and anticipate, eventually) a huuuuge list, though I recognize that The Mic is not gonna use her whole blog to inventory every single one of 'em
So, yeah, Bannon...as if Pelosi doesn't have enough on her plate... Though we've all been raising our eyebrows at Bannon for years, this week's Vanity Fair article was illuminating (though she didn't talk about the acid bathtub in the rental house - remember that? - and some mysteries will remain so)
Loved "once the privilege veil has been pierced you can not claw it back" <smiles broadly>
and I , too, am pleased that the J6C hearings will not be a shitshow for a change, because those on this committee believe that facts matter and that America and allies really both need and deserve to have the US maintain its democracy (and thank God Pelosi refused to seat Gym and other McCarthy picks who would certainly have derailed it)
And YUUUUP, please, please tap out when this bs is a complete waste of your time, Mic. You've got EVERYONE'S permission/support.
