Pretty impressive. The scope of this will be a huge undertaking. Interesting to see what the other two video takes will show. Trump was notorious for not following scripts. Interested to see how the phone logs and communications pan out. One of the most upsetting as well as embarrassing for our country, was by placing Trump ilk in jobs they had no qualifications for in order to damage out institutions, Patel and others need to be held accountable. Hoping more comes out about the almost midnight tour Boebert took without proper escort or documentation that supports her need to do a midnight tour. After 1/6, we heard accounts of certain republican members doing reconnaissance as well as inviting the Proud Boys to the WH. On a separate note, aside from all the other stomach churning pieces, was the idea of the Proud Boys or any other MAGA insurrectionist walking through the Capitol or halls of Congress. So much history and so many proud artifacts or artwork to be denigrated by their presence. When Trump invited Palin and Kid Rock to make mockery of HRC’s portrait or pose with their stupid thumbs up in the Oval Office, it was a gut punch of how far we had fallen. Did not know what treachery lay ahead. 1/6 will forever be a tragic day in our history with very few events to compare. It was painful to watch and as we sort through the aftermath, we have the daunting task of searching for the facts. Many of those will terrify us when people realize how close we came to losing it all.

What?

It’s literally on page 11 of 12 —see the end of the article because the Select Committee also requested documents & communiques as to “ the mental stability of Donald Trump ” - that’s on page 11 and you betcha remember those GSA Emily threads? The Committee wants all her communications

WAY MORE…

I forgot 'who' had a ho take that the Biden administration might even 'block' some of these requests 'looking down the line' for what door this might open for presidents, but if you look at all these requests, the 'language' is exceptionally 'precise' to cover that issue, and I think that was for that exact reason. It might seem 'far reaching,' but it is 'also' quite 'specific' as well.

The preciseness of the language is super relevant— because I can tell you that the House knows what and who has the documents.

I love the fact that even smug, GSA Emily is on the bus with the others to be fitted for Orange jumpsuits. I hope their collective 15 minutes of ‘fame’ is worth federal prison time.

SAME! I think I had a shit-eating grin on my face for a few minutes too because that woman is loathsome individual and I’m pretty sure the Select Committee will “ascertain” <—(see what I did there) she likely violated at least 2 CFRs and possibly federal law.

Seeing Em’s name tickled me, too, but you said it waaaaaay better

Wow, what a comprehensive document!!

Yes, I, too, like 10, but 7’s “outtakes” reference has me lifting my eyebrows to my hairline… These are likely to be damning.

Love to see Emily’s name dropped, too…

This gives me the warm fuzzies. Thanks for all your hard work, Filey.❤

How does this work? Can the people named just refuse to cooperate? What will happen if they do?

Woot! Woot!1 I was really hoping someone would ask this excellent question. Fair warning my answer might be long winded;

1) I purposefully focused on the letter to the National Archives because it’s the most detailed of the 8 letters

2) the request went to specific Fed Agencies who are the custodian of many of the documents etc

2a) the Nat Archives letter/request is grounded in the Presidential Records Act (think of it as a parent)

2b) each progeny (DOD DHS DOJ etc) retains their records and the law requires those records are sent to the Nat Archives

2c) by sending letters to both parent & progeny means Congress is being extra thorough

3) the individuals listed are not responsible for producing records, rather it’s a targeted records request to specific Govt entities

4) the “records” are technically the property of the US Government

5) Trump et al will likely litigate Executive Privilege and Attorney Client Privilege and/or Nat Security (there are exemptions for example Attorney Client Privilege is exempt via the Crime/Fraud exemption)

5a) on a small subset of records that “might” be a viable argument but for now TBD

5b) keep in mind that the records are not the actual property of Donald J Trump

5c) nor are the records the property of the individuals itemized in the request but I do think we should prepare ourselves for a potential protracted litigation

5d) since the records are not the property of XYZ individual(s) they might attempt to claim they are but I do think Article III —specifically standing might be a threshold the individuals can not overcome.

6) while some are saying this is an overly broad request, I’d argue it is actually pretty damn targeted.

7) I wouldn’t expect for the Select Committee to publish the entire tranche of documents, at least not right away

To summarize the select committee is clearly “following the facts” and yesterday’s records request is an obvious indicator as to the solemnity of what the select committee’s charter is. I hope that answers your question.

Thank you. This is the encouraging news I wanted to hear!

I'm afraid for Trump's co-conspirators, for that's what it may end up with such specific requests, there's no hope of falling through the cracks, as co-conspirators might want to do in this case.

Took a break while visiting family in Germany. On my way back and while waiting at the gate, reading this. Amazing!!! THANK YOU for this!!’

My pleasure —I was honestly going to send a smoke signal if I didn’t see you pop up this week. I know that might sound extra creepy but I genuinely enjoy interacting with my readers. And I’m glad you took a break because it sounds like you were in good company too.

Thank you! Not creepy at all. I am so glad I went! I was near canceling the trip again due to COVID. We took precautions and all my family and friends I visited in Germany are vaccinated, too. I missed them all so much—hadn't been there in 5 1/2 years. Lots of time on the beach (I grew up on an island) and I swam plenty of times in the ocean—HEAVEN as you know!!!
