Your primer/background —I’ll keep saying this because “it is what it is” —in my industry understanding and respecting the Rules of Procedure is how our judicial system runs in an orderly manner. Local District Rules vary from District to District. Hence why we say “know your local rules” —but this does bear repeating and I’ll explain in layman’s terms by the following rhetorical questions:
". . . and Ordered that Lin Wood (in writing) explain to the Court why he didn’t violate local rules which prohibits the “broadcasting” of hearings absent a Court’s Order." I wish I had the power to amend this to add "and why Lin Wood shouldn't pay a big, fat fine & spend some time in a jail cell for contempt of court." This idiot is literally "an officer of the court," right? He's supposed to know this stuff. If I was this judge, I'd throw the ENTIRE book at him & let him cool his heels for at least 30 days in my local lockup. 😠
In my local courthouse, all phones, cameras, other recording devices are collected at initial security screening at desk #1. Then you give them your backpack / purse / briefcase / whatever to search at desk #2. And at desk #3, you get wanded or walk through the airport-like screening to screen for all other metals before you go to a fourth desk to get directions on where to go in the building. It takes visitors extra time and care so as not to violate courthouse or judges rules. As in infrequent guest, I find these rules easy to follow.
