Thank you so much for this! What kind of Mom tells her child she isn't mad just learn not to get caught? Then they want him back in school? I cannot imagine! Let them find them swiftly! The docs and your clarification are greatly appreciated! This is definitely one to watch, could be a gamechanger.

I think the attorney might be less than truthful —but the fact they withdrew $4K from an account and then turned their phones off? Bottom line is the USMS Fugitive TaskForce is —really bad news for them. They are also probably going to face additional charges too. Once they are apprehended - “prior acts yo” <—meaning the Court might be inclined to “detention pending trail” <—essentially no bond but I could be getting ahead of my skis

I don't believe you are getting ahead of your skis. I hope you are spot on with the no bond. I am heartbroken for the families who lost their children, I cannot imagine the pain...and the others hurt.. Yet, the shooters parents have no remorse, wingin' it on the run when their kid stole lives. Their art of parenting and competency are drastically lacking. Thanks File-y, we appreciate your wisdom!

So thrilled the parents got charged. If you have an underage child and providing that kid a deadly weapon while knowing your kid has deep psychological issues, then yes, you are responsible for the action of your kid. This is common sense and should be the norm for gun violence committed by kids. I had hoped Rittenhouse parents/mom would have been held to that standard, too.

Love reading the official docs. Thank you!

May these awful parents be found quickly before something else happens. Those who tried, I really feel badly for them because they definitely tried to sound the alarm.

I think a lot of individuals overlook that teachers and school administrators are handicapped— especially if the parents are unwilling to get their child help. I am certain that there’s already a disinformation campaign trying to shift the blame on the Schuller staff. Which is incomprehensibly unfair -because based on the small amount of facts in the public domain —I think the School tried to intervene -they wanted the student removed from the school that day but the parents refused…I just don’t want to see the school administrators and teachers castigated over this. If anything I’m certain the school system will now include rules about searching backpacks before letting a troubled teen back into school. Meaning if the school has reasonable concern about searching a backpack, then let the SRO do it

Agree. We have had alarming students, and as you say, there's only so much we can do.

No words.....when the mother texted her son “Ethan, don’t do it,” you might want to know if she felt compelled to write him this those words, why she didn’t sound an alarm to school officials, police or anyone. I can’t imagine she did not see the writing on the wall. I feel like a broken record when I say this but the survivors of gun violence will forever be scarred and damaged by this. It is no longer accurate to say our nation has a gun problem. We have a disease. It’s rooted in some obscure and archaic notion that the right to bear arms that is some states allow anyone to carry a deadly weapon regardless of mental acuity. The idea that military grade weapons exist in the hands of our citizens, is unfathomable in other democracies and western nations. This is terror. Combine it with extremism and fanaticism found in MAGA and other right wing extremists, is terrifying, I lost my father to gun violence. I say this all of the time. In 1978, it was unusual to experience this type of violence. Today, we hear about gun violence daily. Victims families will forever feel shock over their sudden loss. There is no greater loss than that of a child. Every time they hear a loud noise, hear a police siren or hear the phone ring late at night, they will feel stress and fear. There is no healing. Time will forever be marked by that phone call where they heard the unforgettable words about their child. Time will be measured by “before the shooting” or “after the shooting”. I feel so bad for the victims.... the pain and their long road to process. I hope these fugitives will face justice. They must’ve known that something was not right with their kid. Nobody can be that numb to what was right in front of their noses.

I 100% agree about the gun violence disease -and I gotta tell you I really want to see the Biden Administration use the same exact power Trump used to “declare a national emergency” for the “brown menace” at our southern boarder. What I’m trying to say is (sorry for yelling)

I AM. OKAY. WITH. BIDEN.DECLARING. A. NATIONAL. EMERGENCY.

Effecting most public school students, school administrators and teachers —the precedence has been set by the former administration and SCOTUS largely affirmed the President’s powers - I don’t think people fully understand the difference between a “national health crisis’ to a “national emergency” <— each has a subset of what triggers the emergency appropriations but I agree too many children, too many families, too many teachers & school administrators will require.long term mental heath care…which the emergency funding could cover

I agree. I was thinking that the stress on school teachers and administrators has been taken to a new level. Not only dealing with Covid and mask mandate tensions, but gun violence becoming more of a prevalent threat. It’s too much to put upon an already underpaid and overworked profession. The mental health and behavioral issues of students has put teachers in an untenable stressful position. The answer isn’t to arm teachers as in Ohio. Definitely a national crisis. So sad.

The GOP is responsible for the degree of gun violence this country is facing. To me the Crumbley family is the perfect example of a homegrown terrorist cell. Not sure if this can ever be fixed at this point—there are so many freakin' guns in this country. Ugh.

If you go to Reagan era, the NRA grew in importance & became a huge part of GOP platform. Simultaneously, you saw the money laundering faux religious mega church leaders joining in. The argument was always about right to bear arms & protection against a government taking over your rights. 3 forces feeding off one another into a growing industry. Ruby Ridge, Waco & then school shootings proved this nonsense was completely off the rails but it grew. The right uses guns and money NRA had to lobby politicians for other things. There was so much grifting while selling their public on fear. Ironically, these people now use their weapons against federal institutions. It’s so scary….

I continue to be appalled at gun violence in this country. It’s not okay for so many people to be armed. Our children are gunned down and traumatized and as a people (most are parents) there’s no meaningful gun restrictions or background check. This is our national legacy and nightmare.
