Fantastic article again, Filey. What a whole bunch of trolls should be scared about is that the United States had a prosecutable case months ago, but they did not unseal the warrant. That means they were trying to track his co-conspirators Who are described as “known and unknown to the grand jury”. Think about that for a second. The United States knew that by sitting on the warrant Kottman would hack other victims, but the feds believed that tracking his co-conspirators for their crimes was more important than stopping his hacking. <Eagle head dot gif> so, if I were one of his co-conspirators, I would be asking myself, just how important federal prosecutors consider my crimes to be.

Right? I almost think that they (DOJ) wanted to have Tillie do the recent attack on the security cams. Because the fact they went on to Twitter to humble-brag (hence why I embedded the hashtag) -the indictment added additional victims and extended the campaign from Sept 2020 to March 2021. I oddly held back some of my research because I’m mindful the investigation is ongoing - did you see who Tillie hired to defend him? 🤫

I really miss your calming ocean pics, your insta-pot pics, the fishing, your comments about the "littles", but will always remember the hope you instilled in this old, frightened woman. Debbie

There is a lot to unpack on this one as it ties into so many threads of how hacking has become a criminal network. When Snowden & WikiLeaks were first in the news, the argument to support them were under the idea of journalism or first amendment rights. We later learned the ties to Russia and attempts to influence an election etc. The best article I had read about hacking vs truth telling or whistleblowing, was called “Daniel Ellsberg, Edward Snowden and the Modern Whistle-Blower” written in Tge New Yorker in December 19th & 26th issues in 2016. The author lays out how Daniel Ellsberg had happened upon the Pentagon Papers in 1967 & was shocked to learn about the government lying to the American people about Vietnam. Ellsberg was a whistleblower. Snowden desperately tried w/aid of others to claim same status but the argument point by point, reveals an arrogant hacker who had no altruistic intentions whatsoever. His betrayal caused great harm to the intelligence agencies & the computer systems used. Snowden was a thief who stole files, methodologies & systems information from NSA. It was hacking.

When I first read this piece, I also checked the Instagram page and note that it reads this person describes themself as autistic & also uses the same self description as a few people on Twitter. Last thing, it’s almost haunting how this story as so many others, read so much like Stieg Larson’s series The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Stieg Larson must have infused much truth into the fictivious series where Lisbeth Sander, a hacker on the autistic spectrum & the workings of the Russian mafia, bikers, human trafficking and all of the evils we know of today. Excellent article! ❤️

Ahem - look at who Kottman hired to fight his extradition and stand up a robust defense. I’ve probably said too much 🤐 FTR I loved those books - and the Swedish movies - I was less fond of how Hollywood re-invented the books

Looks like Kottman and Snowden share a lot in common in terms of lawyers... Marcel Bosonnet. PS. Can’t tell you how much I enjoyed the Larsson series and agree that the movies did not capture the books at all. So many things since 2016 have reminded me of those books. Larsson came from the journalism side and one wonders how much non fiction entered those books. He was decades before his time.

I dunno but I kind of like getting facts out there with supporting documents - this guy was on a my radar for a while. That said it’s weird how Till is being extolled as a martyr - the March 9th hack has huge ramifications
