Love the footnote that Sotheby’s disputes that the 1.5 million in fees owed to Skadden are all related to UK litigation. One wonders how he accrued that much in fees.
I’ve been doing the math - my bosses hourly rates range $485 <—to Jr Associate to $1,290 <— Sr Partner/principle - my contractual rate is about $285- even if they had an entire department within Skadden billing an average hourly rate of <$900 that would mean collectively the firm billed Rybolovlev over 1,600 hours. It’s feasible but it seems unbelievably on the high end. My client/employer has just over 1K in attorneys—they aren’t as big as Skadden but even my boss was like - did they bill him on the 5minute versus the standard 15 minute increment. Assuming arguendo the billing is accurate >1.57+M for about 60 days work —> I have questions
