Yes, so much evidence gathering and case building takes a ton of time. As long as it is highlighted and not swept under the carpet as GOP would like to do-and we get to the leadership in the insurrection, this will be time well spent. I do think time dulls the senses in many though--
Agreed and the notion that some are pushing…just move on. NOPE I refuse to move on until those who attacked the Capitol and Law Enforcement are sentenced for their acts. Only then am I willing to move on - but you are so right that “time dulls the senses” I had to take a break from reporting on the Jan6th cases because my objectivity became obscured and my personal ire over what happened to us, as a country on Jan6th felt kind of all consuming. Once I was able to compartmentalize I started to cover the cases, again.
I am sorry but "just move on" doesn't work for me. When I think about simply touring the Capitol and the tight security measures- Congressional offices compiling your personal data and then likely subsequently hacked and then these assholes breaking in.
No, that's two sets of rules and there is no moving on- We know what their end game was and if their end game was incited due to their stupidity, that really isn't an excuse. But it's a propaganda machine creating all of this and some really bad players who are at the helm. Find them and prosecute them. Treating all of this lightly builds problems like a snowball rolling down a hill. Needs to be halted.
That's why I am glad the NYT published the 40+ minute video and now it seems we are getting more footage almost every day. It is important to keep it up and I wish all TV stations would play something like the NYT video on Prime time for EVERYONE to see.
I gave you a special shout out - article is scheduled to publish tomorrow afternoon but I wanted you to know that I was thank for your reminder of that video
You're absolutely right. It takes time, and I cannot imagine how much possible evidence the department of justice must look through. It's unfair for us to expect results in a New York minute. The department of justice has done so much already. 500+ arrests are quite impressive. Thanks for sharing this and reminding us of the enormous task our DOJ has in front of them.🇺🇸⚖️
There was so much corruption in the previous administration that needs attention it will take a little longer than we'd like. In the end we'll have complete and clean investigations that will lead to convictions.
Patience isn’t exactly my strong suit. But when it comes to justice it has to be. I’ve often thought about how we’ve become an “instant gratification society” that we are conditioned to feel the sense of entitlement of right booking now. The reality is an investigation of this magnitude —on top of the regular course of business for the DOJ —you’re right it does require a lot patience.
Thanks again Filey. I see the impatient tweets (I’m impatient too) about Garland and the DOJ but I know that they’re building a case which takes time and it needs to be ironclad.
Indeed - I can admit in the beginning I too was impatient and I drew a parallel with the June 2020 Lafayette Sq and arrests - but as the saying goes “slow and steady wins the race”
Thanks for continuing to amplify info about VASTNESS of this undertaking, Filey! It’s monumental & achieving it without mistakes is essential. What continues to be frustrating to me (& lots of peeps) is watching lawmakers like mccarthy, hawley, mtg, cruz get to frame the ‘move on from Jan6’ narrative when they should be publicly facing disgrace & charges of sedition. I know it’s a meticulous legal dance, but right now it looks like seditious lawmakers are above the law. Dangerous situation IMHO. Thanks AS ALWAYS for your invaluable perspectives!!

I love that video.
On Jan 6 I was glued to my TV and I think I was in shock.
The NYT put it all together and I cried. Over the actual impact of it.
I hope they kick of the Special Commission with it.
