My mother enjoyed fishing and what came after. Us littles were generally grossed out by it. And my dad would help her skin the catfish when she caught them (not the ocean, certainly). And my dad helped us create things in his basement workshop. I still have a laminated keychain I made for my grandmother. Oh, Spicy - thanks for the memories.

I love to be on the beach in the fall. No crowds, so peaceful. Take that any day over a hot summer day!

Lovely video sea share and the glimpse into your trip and life! I hope you know you've not only sustained many of us with your Spicey researched tweets during many years of dark former guy atrocities, you've now inspired me to double down on getting back to the sea where I belong too: my way is I'm saving for a class c RV, from where I'll work part time remotely at the sea to escape my home's summer mountain heat. Clients won't even know I'm frockling, toes at water's edge, in between conference calls. We all need a bit of looking forward to Octobers, as you are for your return to the sea, or some other inspirations to motivate us in today's everyday grind, so I scrimp and save, but I'll be darned if the only way I get back to the sea is in an urn !!

RV and the beach? Holy Moly this reminds me of my childhood— when my dad was still in the military, money was kind of tight. But each year he’d go to the DC Naval Yard and rent an RV or Camper Trailer. When then took the Lewisville Ferry to Cape May. Where I spent many summers in my youth there. I don’t know why but your comment reminded me of my time with him. Now that he’s gone I cherish these memories. So thank you. And yes I feel you on the urn <— legit made me chuckle

It's very good that you were able to spend time on working on projects. I find my mind often sorts itself out while working like this. And it's really good to see what you and yours put together.

Great work! Especially like the littles’ project👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. Hoping you’re refreshed and ready for a wild summer in DC. October by the sea will be a perfect reward.

Projects finished! Completion is so satisfying! Great work by the littles; I hope it is okay to steal the idea...I never thought to imagine arm length for placement, I won't say how high mine are placed. :-) Sunrise is exquisite as always! Safe travels!

One other comment. You get an idea into character by seeing the improvements that YOU are making for others to also enjoy.

I might need to stay at your place-- it looks fantastic. I was always angry at the math education when my kids were growing up. So many kids in general hated math and thought it useless. Finally my oldest had one teacher that demonstrated the applications to practical life and then it made more sense. I used him as a tutor for my other two.

And I don't mean those "two cars leaving at such and such a time and traveling at X speed". Things like your shelves. Great for them!

Love the sun-- One week countdown for my beach trip!

The place looks great by the way!

Those type of skills, and the ability and knowledge to figure those things out are often times lost nowadays. They are just as important as reading and arithmetic. That's great that they have such great teachers. Until you get back for some peace and serenity, safe home!
