As much as I love (LOVE) your research and articles, I'd much rather deal with my impatience while you heal your body and soul. Be well, get healthy.

That’s the plan Stan -I’m hoping to be back on my feet soon. My employer was like, look we can send our plane down to pick you up & fly you back to DC for your surgery. The Dr was like “are you high -hell no you can’t fly unless you have a death wish” something about cabin pressure and possible adverse impact on my nasal soft tissue. So I opted to use a surgeon on the island

Sorry Spicy, didn’t realize how under the weather you were, I’m just catching up … My first career is sports medicine. When I lived in HI we had two athletes who had ACL tears but the coaches already purchased their travel tickets so they came along. I told them compression socks along with their usual knees sleeves… they still were swollen to all hell after the flight. Also reminds me of when I teach my sports med class, I use the Zack Miller injury (Chicago Bears player - blew out knee, arteries and nerves) and discussed why he had to stay in NOLA and couldn’t fly due to the similar reasons you aren’t able. I hope you feel better very soon dear. Take care.

Jeez, you really downplayed the accident. Follow the Docs orders and take the meds.

Love the vids of sunset/sunrises.

Please be good to you; we can wait for your genius, with bated breath!

You are well and truly blessed to have a place of breathtaking beauty to refresh and relax you. You’re lucky to be alive and not more seriously injured from the photos of your damaged car. Not that your injuries aren’t bad, they’re awful. Follow Doctors orders and be kind to yourself. Take the pain meds as directed and give your mind and body healing space. Love on your husband and children because they’re the most important. Peace.

You are very brave. I would be whining. It takes time to recover physically & emotionally from such a traumatic accident. Rest & have others wait on you. ❤️😍

These photos of the car really highlight how serious this is. You survived a major accident! I hope you will take your pain medication. The best way to manage pain is not let it get ahead of you…try and take the meds every few hours as prescribed even if you don’t think you’ll need them. It helps keep a balance and when you’re in pain, it makes you anxious which is bad for your healing. You are such a strong woman! Let others care for you while you heal. It’s ok to take a break, rest and allow yourself the time to get better. Wish I could bring you a nice pot of soup or a hot meal fit your family. Lean on those around you. It’s temporary and you’ll be back to your Spicey fiery self in no time. So many people are worried about you. Glad you survived this crash. Now is the time to heal. We all love you! ❤️

Jeez. Will email your substack later. So the facial damage was from the airbag?

Expand full comment

No the facial injuries occurred because my face smashed into the steering wheel —I didn’t realize my tooth was knocked out because there was a lot of blood from the broken nose -it was the State Trooper who was like I think we need to call for an ambulance. I coughed and 1 of my 2 teeth came out in my hand. I was on my way (like less tan 2 miles) from the Airport to pick up my friend. our insurance adjuster explained that my car was designed to minimize injury to the occupants but I had hit the brakes so hard that the collision was likely at <35MPH because I could not understand how my airbags didn’t deploy -turns out that initial impact occurred on the passenger side.

Luckily this happened before picking up your friend was sitting in passenger side! Thankful you’re ok.

Filey, trouble appears to be brewing on Twitter. Some guy who, back in the day, went by the name of Tundra is taking up for GTT and kicking the word spicy in scare quotes in a tweet. Like he's going to play hero and dox for the grifter. That GTT person is something else.

Oh Damn.

I was planning to just ride off into the sunset myself BUT the way you share your life changed my mind.

I love my actual family and friends but the Twitter Universe opened up more that I'd ever imagined possible. I owe you all a proper goodbye.

I 2016 I was diagnosed with Emphysema And Sarcoidosis both uncurable and progresses to Fibrosis (also incurable) in 2021.

While looking for the reason for the decrease in oxygen saturation ( at 4 liters of O2 24/7) a mass was identified in the lower lobe of my right lung. Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Lung. 4.2 x 3.5 Cm on August 4th.

Pet Scan on 9/27 shows growth to 5.8 x 5.2 and the 3rd dimension on 7 CM.

It was now infiltrating the central lobe. Dr explained the right lung has 3 lobes with 10 distinct sections. My tumor had at that point control on 7 of the 10 sections.

Dr explained treatment options (hours in medical facilities with minimal improvement in Quality of Life.

I asked the big question..." With so many incurable lung issues is there any reason to be aggressive with a cancer that has a high recurrence rate?"

My wonderful, highly compassionate Doctor replied "NOT REALLY!"

After the tears, anger and processing....i invited Hospice into my life. Best decision of my life. Slowly getting my husband, children and grandchildren to understand

Now on low-dose Morphine and coughing up blood has almost stopped. Xanax helps me function day-to-day but my energy doesn't allow much of that.

Files understands....accidents or tumors happen. We choose the life we live.

I had hoped by being here on earth I might effect some small change.

Maybe my purpose is to help my immediate family members understand a little bit more about death, dying and choices.

Last week it finally hit me and I asked my Hospice Nurse " it's really close to my heart...what are the symptoms of that?".

She answered directly....you won't even notice them.

Turn,Turn,Turn by The Byrds

Love to all and I am eternally grateful for our encounters.
