May 12, 2021 HEARING PURPOSE
The purpose of this hearing is to examine the role of Executive Branch and District agencies in the events of January 6, 2021 and to address unanswered questions about the Trump Administration’s preparations for January 6 and response to the attacks…2
WITNESSES
The Honorable Christopher C. Miller, Former Acting Secretary Department of Defense
The Honorable Jeffrey A. Rosen, Former Acting Attorney General Department of Justice
Mr. Robert J. Contee III Chief, Metropolitan Police Department
Background;
January 16, 2021, the Oversight Committee joined the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, the House Committee on Homeland Security, and the House Committee on the Judiciary in sending a letter to U.S. Intelligence Community agencies requesting intelligence products and briefings related to the January 6, 2021, attack.
March 25, 2021, these Committees and the House Committee on Armed Services, Committee on House Administration, and House Appropriations Subcommittees on Defense, Interior, and the Legislative Branch, sent letters to sixteen federal, congressional, and District of Columbia departments and agencies requesting a broad array of documents relating to the January 6 attack.
The hearing will also consider the response of federal and local law enforcement agencies to the attack, and the need to establish a bipartisan, “9/11-style” commission, so that Congress and the American people can fully understand the causes and circumstances that led to the January 6, 2021, insurrection.
May 12th Hybrid Hearing will be streamed
(former) Acting Attorney General Rosen Written Testimony;
holy mother of - inject this into my veins…setting aside my own personal reservation concerning Rosen - I can actually respect the entirety of his written testimony (in advance of tomorrow’s hearing) because this is a complete and unbridled repudiation of Donald Trump’s ‘BIG LIE’
Also it should be noted that Attorney General Barr “purportedly” resigned because he and Trump were at odds over Trump’s unrealistic demands that the DOJ support his “big lie”. As further elucidated in Rosen’s written testimony. Pay close attention to what I highlighted and underlined in his testimony.
Remember that Rosen’s own career DOJ colleagues held him in the highest regard that they threatened to resign en masse. This was actually affirmed by DOJ-OIG Horowitz’s late January 2021 Congressional Testimony. This is also indicative of the DOJ-OIG January 25, 2021 tweet. Moreover Michael Horowitz said in a statement that the probe will look into 'whether any former or current DOJ official engaged in an improper attempt to have DOJ seek to alter the outcome of the 2020 Presidential Election.'
Because, if you recall, at the time, the public reporting suggested that a “Trump Loyalist” was willing to essentially shank Rosen and arguably Trump’s total control over the DOJ would be complete and thus his “Big Lie” would become a metastasizing cancer that would eat the DOJ from within. All in In the obsceneness of Trump’s furtherance of his “big lie” — thankfully Trump didn’t account for his (4th or 5th) acting Attorney General to hold the line. And insofar as to truly protect our Democracy from an unhinged demigod who refused to come to terms with he lost the 2020 election. Rosen held the line with quite surety - it is notable that in Rosen’s written testimony he lays bare - no letters, no appointment of special prosecutors, no legal briefs -excluding the one brief regarding Rep Gohmert’s insane lawsuit. These tiny details had big and hopefully everlasting implications for our Democracy.
When you read Rosen’s written testimony it paints a much more dire picture than most of us understood but it also restores my wavering confidence in the DOJ. In sum Rosen’s written testimony is like an actual love letter to American Democracy. That’s not me overly romanticizing his testimony -it’s what immediately came to mind after I read his full testimony three times. Because it is incredibly detailed and I am genuinely grateful to Rosen’s service to our Country and his unflinchingly efforts to protect our Democracy.
…Department had been presented with no evidence of widespread voter fraud at a scale sufficient to change the outcome of the 2020 election, that it would not participate in any campaign’s or political party’s legal challenges to the certification of the Electoral College votes, and that there would be an orderly and peaceful transfer of power under the Constitution. During my tenure, no special prosecutors were appointed, whether for election fraud or otherwise; no public statements were made questioning the election; no letters were sent to State officials seeking to overturn the election results; no DOJ court actions or filings were submitted seeking to overturn election results…
…the only time DOJ did file a brief it was to seek a dismissal of Representative Gohmert’s lawsuit aiming to decertify the electoral count—and that lawsuit was dismissed, as DOJ had urged
Rosen coming with receipts
I remember hearing this was true but this is the first time I’m seeing this in writing and it’s notable because it fills in some of the persistent information holes and it’s actually affirming to see this in Rosen’s written testimony:
…my office directed various DOJ entities to take cautionary steps to alert or pre-position tactical teams if needed for support on January 6. For example, the FBI’s Hostage Rescue team and Render Safe teams were activated; an additional FBI SWAT team from Baltimore was repositioned to Washington, D.C.; ATF Special Response Teams were pre-positioned in Virginia for activation if needed; and USMS Special Operations Group personnel were also pre-positioned in Virginia for deployment if needed.
I mean this is an extraordinary amount of additional information that I’m pretty sure most of the public was unaware of, until the publication of Rosen’s written May 12th testimony. So to those blue checks on Twitter you can now sit dow and shut the ___ up because your rush to impugn the DOJ which -spoiler- also includes the FBI, DEA, ATF and USMS - you dolts, you had no idea what you were tweeting about. Yet your dopamine Twitter-fix propelled by the need to feel important with likes and retweets - tweeting derisive misinformation just so you could trend on Twitter. Was it worth it? Meaning the fleeting fame you may have achieved, meanwhile the adults are actually talking. You might want to pay attention - it’s possible you might learn something.
…500 DOJ agents and officers who had deployed, but work remained, as those DOJ personnel were then working with the Capitol Police and others to check for explosives and to otherwise secure the offices and chambers in the Capitol building, so that Congress could return that same day and complete the electoral count.
But it was also terrible because it constituted an assault on a building that is a fundamental symbol of our democracy, on the institution of Congress itself, and on an electoral process required by our Constitution.
As a society, we need to restore greater respect and appreciation for our Constitution, our representative democracy, and the rule of law.

Rosen’s written testimony includes three Exhibits but it’s Exhibit B that grabbed my attention for obvious reasons
If you get the sense I’m irate - I am. My recollection was so many decided to rush to judgment meanwhile my stance was “slow your roll” wait for the facts to come out before you rush to judgment. I’ve been in DC for over 3 decades when I tell you how shit really works that’s not me talking out of turn, that’s me saying - calm down…
But it’s up to you want you want to consume as ‘news’ or who you decide to believe. That’s your prerogative. I for one tend to gravitate towards facts that can be affirmed with a panoply of actual documents to support said statement and thus helping to form an “in-formed” opinion.

The House has a document repository and typically witness written statements are uploaded to the repository <24 hours before the hearing commencement. https://docs.house.gov
W.T.F. happened to Chris Miller? Who got to him? What did they use to threaten him? I had to look up who he was because I was confused by his testimony. He condemned frumpy in January, now what's his deal?
As a mom in FL, I knew this was going to be bad, just reading posts from wack-a-do family members. How were people who are tasked with protecting DC not aware, not concerned, and not communicating? Congress people were literally giving these terrorists tours of the building on Jan 5th. Something is not quite White....
