Did I miss something. Why don’t we know more about the Trump loyalists blocking the National Guard? Is there no record of what perhaps Tata’s involvement may have been? Is any of that wrapped up in Secrecy? I feel like the most damning stuff didn’t get mentioned, but I’ll admit, I wasn’t able to listen to all of the days’ proceedings.
1stQ, my A—> Because the DC National Guard (NG) isn’t a state the Commander in Chief (CiC)is POTUS, whereas State NGs, the CiC is the State Governor. The alleged blocking (more precisely) the hours long delay is currently under investigation by the DOD-OIG, GAO & Congress
2ndQ, my A—> There are records, by way of emails, text/sms, documents requesting the activation of the NG - lesser important such as phone logs and other communications from Members of Congress to DoD. The fact is Tr
I am unaware of Tata interceding. I know factually that the Acting DoD Sec, Army Sec, and Joint Chiefs along with other Top DoD brass had concerns about the “optics” and the potential “specter” of “martial law” - the neighboring DMV (DC MD VA) can not deploy their NG into another jurisdiction unless the DoD authorizes it. However MD & VA both sent >1,750 State Police Officers, but that was only after the DC mayor initiated a formal request. I think as the investigation continues, we will learn that Acting DoD Sec Miller slow-walked the shit out of this and that Kash Patel, Ezra Cohen-Watnik. Between the new DoD Sec Austin and Gen Honoré et al we will learn that Trump loyalist. This is one of the research projects I set aside for this weekend. And yes insomnia sucks rotten eggs...side effect of Covid-19
AH, thanks for this - I knew you'd be able to clarify. I figured there wasn't a clear enough line to be drawn between that order and trump himself for the impeachment proceedings. Looking forward to what the investigation uncovers, and your coming work on the subject!
So glad you’re back!
