The FBI Lab concluded that after an analysis seized pursuant to a Judicially authorized Search warrant of Defendant Robertson home - the components COULD be used as an IED aka Pipebomb
I know folks like this who know they could get caught w something questionable (like an IED shell) that they figure they can reasonably explain-even with the internal components available, with “it’s a training device “ bc, yes it was- but the benefit goes all to hell when you also storm the castle…(Princess Bride ref)
Excellent movie reference! And I agree except that the fbi lab report validates that separately the components aren’t dangerous but together they “could” be used as an IED. My bet is Defendant Robertson will seize on the “could” versus “would” because that would go to the 2nd half of mens rea Iwhich is the criminal intent aka state of mind) whereas “actus reus” is the act itself
True- and ty, lots of good lines in PB. It’s why I talk about benefit (of doubt) he’s no doubt gonna angle at that argument…training equipment blah blah, but he amassed weapons, ammo (which he probably stored separately), and these other items that his training allows him to combine effectively- and then he goes cult. I feel like his intent becomes clear through his charges…my thoughts anyway.
I lean towards bond revoked and remanded to pretrial custody because I think the judge will look at that whole son-gun- father's- bedroom story as a big bag of wind.
‘I always keep my AR ammo at my daddy’s house in his safe, in his bedroom. And I bring my gun with me when I come to get it, when he’s not home. I don’t leave it in my vehicle. I lay it on my daddy’s bed, so it can rest.’ <snort>
Hello FBI, I have questions. How much and what type of ammunition is in this safe? Are there other (prohibited) firearms in the safe? Are there passports or identification with other names/dob for Mr. Robertson, or large sums of cash?
I’m sure there’s an escape plan for the use of all those ‘training materials’ they found.
So... how about that Tom Barrack's release on bail. Hope there's some pretty strict restrictions there. 'Cause $250,000,000 is a drop in the bucket for him.
