You can read more here and here. Remember Joel Greenberg has a hearing on April 8, 2021 and Greenberg’s arraignment for the Superseding Indictment is currently scheduled for Friday April 9, 2021.

Particularly this statement from Gaetz’s office

So the suggestion that Matt Gaetz didn’t know about the investigation or that Trump was unaware and the White House didn’t take Gaetz’s request seriously. I’m not buying that narrative.
Commonsense dictates of course Gaetz knew. To suggest otherwise is willfully naive or possibly complicit. I’m curious if the NYTs article was/is an attempt to help Team Trump distance themselves from Matt Gaetz. Come on, use your noodle and look at the series of court filings, overlay that on top of Gaetz’s podcast and tweets.
Remember this incontrovertible fact, it was the Trump’s Department of Justice (DOJ) that investigated Joel Greenberg. It was also Trump’s DOJ that debriefed Trump’s handpicked Attorney General Bill Barr on at least three separate occasions. And there’s zero public reporting that AG Barr told investigators to stand down (which is oddly surprising)… the leak about Gaetz’s pardon request legitimately can only originate from one source - Team Trump

Gaetz readily acknowledges that he’s known Roger Stone for well over a decade and Gaetz does think of Stone as a quasi-father figure. Matt’s relationship with his father isn’t all roses and gumdrops —there’s friction related to his family’s business, the control of a significant amount of money and in general Gaetz is not a chip off the old block.
