Impeachment- Day 5 Summary ACQUITTED (again)
Your honor I object. Mr Van der Veem the Senate is not a court of law, but what’s the objection? “New Evidence” later determined the House Impeachment Managers timely filed it. Again - Overruled again
House Impeachment Manager -Request Witnesses
and House Impeachment Managers ALSO request Subpoena for Contemporaneous documents. And then all hell broke loose. Specifically seeking a deposition from Rep Jaime Herrera-Beutler (R-WA) and additionally requested a subpoena for her contemporaneous1 notes of the Telephone Call Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (Q-CA)
And then QANON-Marjorie Taylor Greene (Q-GA) goes on to tweet a veiled threat (archived here). because Rep Jaimie Herrera-Beutler (R-WA). issued a statement on Twitter which confirmed the recent CNN report that Minority Leader McCarthy (Q-CA) called Trump during the Insurrection and implored him to tell his violent-murderous-mob to stand down. To wit Trump responded:
Well, Kevin, I guess these people are more upset about the election than you are,"
Notably on January 12, 2021 Rep Jaime Herrera issued a Statement of why she was voting to Impeach Trump;
“The President of the United States incited a riot aiming to halt the peaceful transfer of power from one administration to the next. That riot led to five deaths. People everywhere watched in disbelief as the center of American democracy was assaulted….These terrorists roamed the Capitol, hunting the Vice President and the Speaker of the House.”2
Lady G Flip but mostly Flops:
The Moment Senator Lindsey Graham changed his Nay to Yea vote for Impeachment witnesses
“THE TRIAL SHOULD END TODAY”
And then Trump’s Impeachment Attorney Michael Van Der Veen loses his ___ on the Senate Floor. Full disclosure I added a few sound effects to the video. Trump’s impeachment Attorney’s laughably whined that the House Impeachment Managers “didn’t do their due diligence…and failed to call witnesses”3
Senate Vote Impeachment Witnesses;
On the Motion (Shall It Be In Order to Consider and Debate Any Motion to Subpoena Witnesses or Documents?): Shall It Be In Order to Consider and Debate Any Motion to Subpoena Witnesses or Documents?
Vote Date: February 13, 2021, 10:21 AM Vote Counts: YEAs (55) NAYs (45)
Mike Lee turns over his phone logs
per the Washington Post:
Sen. Mike Lee (Q-UT) gave lawyers on both sides a copy of a log from his cellphone that shows a call from the White House at 2:26 p.m. on Jan. 6. The document sheds new light on a key moment when Lee has said that Trump called his phone — apparently believing that he was calling Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) — during the attack on the Capitol
Did Trump know Pence was evacuated? Absolutely
On a side note the question still remains “did Trump know that the Secret Service had evacuated Pence”- on February 11, 2021 I gave you an approximate time line and explained why the time line could be very problematic for Trump.
And this is the time that I disclose that my Uncle is retired Secret Service. He was the head of detail for a Vice President and then a president, at the time of his retirement. In further discussion with him I asked “is there any way that the Service would not tell Trump that Pence had been evacuated from the Senate Chamber” and his response to my question was;
“there is no way that the Service did not inform the president …they would given him a real-time tick-tock of the escalating situation …or at the minimum they would have informed his Chief of Staff…Trump knew and he didn’t give a ___…”
One line of inquiry that I’m disappointed the House Managers appear that they did not pursue is asking the Secret Service for their “tick-tock”- I think they should have drilled down further and gathered additional evidence. I’m sorry but that was one weakness in the otherwise amazing case the House Impeachment Manager argued.
Department of Defense Timeline
On January 8, 2021 the Department of Defense (DOD). My assumption is the DOD wanted to accurately memorialize the chain of events on their end in response to the Jan 6th insurrection. The DOD timeline includes a detailed planning & execution timeline for the National Guard’s involvement in the January 6, 2021 violent insurrection. The document can be found here. Pay attention to the time and gaps in time. Especially around the time that Pence was evacuated from the Senate Chamber.
As Lead House Impeachment Manager Rep Jamie Raskin reiterated today in his closing arguments, the Jan6th rally (two permits) On February 10th I provided you to links for the United States Park Service permits; Women America First Permit link to permit here. The Silent Majority Permit can be found here
And then there’s Chuck who demurred over and over. Hw continues to provide good cause for me to intensely dislike him. Chuck demonstrates that he will rarely rise to the occasion and that brutal fact continues to prove why he needs to be defeated…
Day Five - Impeachment Playlist can be found here.
Closing Argument -powerful & succinct laid bare for all of history
“At the moment we most needed a president to preserve, protect and defend us, President Trump instead willfully betrayed us...That is why he must be convicted....” Rep David Cicilline February 13, 2021
and lastly I’m not going to provide a summary of Trump’s Important Attorneys closing arguments because I have nothing constructive to say about the lack of; professionalism, facts and specious counter arguments presented by Trump. Let the Senate Republicans vote to acquit Trump. 4
Just Powerful and Beautiful
My friends at Eleven Films
Reminder 2020 - their video was true in 2020 and it’s still true in 2021 Impeachment trial. The Senate Republicans that vote to acquit Trump in his 2021 Impeachment Trial. Prescient to say the least. And lastly the 2022 elections coming soon…
- Filey Out
ps TeamTrump trying to throw the House Impeachment Managers closing arguments off the rails with their “objection to new evidence”. This is what a defense attorney does when they know they are getting out lawyered. That’s also the second time TeamTrump speciously objected to “new evidence” and second time the Presiding officer ruled in favor of the House Impeachment Managers. The fact is the video (Katrina Pierson) and Tweets - both were given to TeamTrump during multiple deposits of evidence given to Trump’s attorneys. Those are the facts. And it’s not the House Impeachment Managers fault that Trump’s attorneys did review all of the evidence or at the minimum have their staff review the evidence… it is not the House Managers issue/problem that Trump’s previous impeachment attorneys failed to provide Trump 3rd-tier legal team the evidence, previously provided
Rep Jaimie Herrera Beutler February 12, 2021 statement corroborating CNN’s reporting of the January 6th telephone call from Minority Leader McCarthy (Q-CA) to implore Trump to tell his violent mob to stand down.
Trump was acquitted - 57 voted in favor to Convict still short of the Super Majority required
Day Five - Impeachment Video Playlist which has a variety of videos from today’s arguments
"Chuck demonstrates that he will rarely rise to the occasion and that brutal fact continues to prove why he needs to be defeated…"
Yep.
Though I am worried about precedent (with Mitch spouting off just now about how *guilty* Trump is, regardless of the fact that Mitch voted *not guilty*), I think that the legal system will be much less forgiving (correct me if I'm wrong, though I don't wanna be wrong, Spicey...) so I look forward to comeuppances for many of these elected traitors.
And I am glad that Congresswoman HB's statement is now in the record.
And I am glad that the votes of Senate GOP are all recorded for posterity, because, as you say, 2022.
